What is the difference between JPG and JPEG?
JPG and JPEG are names for the same image format. Converted JPEG files download with a .jpg extension.
Will conversion reduce file size?
It depends on the source image and output format. A converted file may be larger than the original. Use our Image Compressor if reducing file size is your goal.
Will my image lose quality?
JPG and the default WebP output use lossy encoding. PNG keeps the decoded pixel colors, but converting a lossy source to PNG cannot restore lost detail.
What happens to transparency?
PNG and WebP output can keep transparency. JPG does not support it, so transparent areas are filled with white.
Can I convert animated images?
This converter supports static images. Animated PNG and WebP files are rejected rather than converted to a single frame.
What are the file size and dimension limits?
Choose one static image up to 20 MB and 32 million pixels. For WebP output, neither width nor height can exceed 16,383 pixels. Images that exceed these limits are rejected; the converter does not resize them automatically.
Do dimensions or metadata change?
The displayed pixel dimensions stay the same. Re-encoding removes embedded metadata such as EXIF and GPS details.
